Elevator pitch
Nephthys, Lady of the Temple
a borderline that transverses the world and beyond
Goddess of Ancient Egypt, most well-known for her assistance in the mourning and resurrection of her brother, Osiris, after his murder at the hands of their brother, her husband, Setekh, and as the nursing-mother to the Pharaohs. Dark aspect to complement the light of Isis, Nephthys is a creator of boundaries that separate the sacred and the profane, life and death, self and Other. As such, she represents the act of dying, guiding those through the journey to the next cycle beyond life. Worship of her has waned with time, as has her power; however, she continues to carry out her duties as a funerary goddess as modern death doula.
